Walking Tour Arthur Avenue

Angela Grande, Bob Pisani and Arthur Avenue resident and business development leader, Frank Franz take us back to the Bronx’s Little Italy for an interactive tour of Italian Specialty Food Shops.  

We will begin at Mario’s Restaurant – Owner Joseph Migliucci will speak to us on the history of his fourth generation restaurant known for its “Classic Neapolitan Pizza”.  We will drink Prosecco and enjoy antipasto and their famous pizzaWe then proceed to Joe’s Deli where Marie will have samples of their homemade mozzarella. We will make a quick stop at Mt. Carmel Wines and Spirits, one of the largest Italian wine stores in the area and the supplier of the wines we will be drinking at Zero Otto Nove. We will then proceed to Casa Della Mozzarella where Marko will welcome us to this small but wonderful salumeria and cheese shop for a demonstration on making burrata. Biancardi’s Butcher Shop is next. Sal Biancardi will explain the changing mix of the clientele in the area. Trimmed cuts of lamb, beef, pork and veal are arrayed alongside stacked rows of harder-to-find items like quail, rabbit and pheasant. We will also stop at two bakeries: Madonia Brothers Bakery where Peter will speak to us on the history of their bread making and great cookies and Artusi’s Bakery. Owner Anthony Artusi will share stories of his family business and the Arthur Avenue Neighborhood. We will sample his delicious cannolis and expresso. Before dinner, we will meander through the famous Arthur Ave Market. We will find there an enormous assortment of markets with Italian specialties.  We will end with dinner at 6:30 at Zero Otto Nove.
